PANCA MARGA - PATH OF PREPARATION I JOHN BISHOP
In 2021, I launched Panca Marga, a 20-year legacy project of 100 paintings released in five installments, tracing my artistic evolution from age 60 to 80. Inspired by a Buddhist metaphor of five paths, the project reflects how each milestone opens the way to new discoveries.
Following The Path of Accumulation in 2021, The Path of Preparation is the second installment, released in 2026. These 20 abstract expressionist works bring experience into practice, exploring the persistence, resilience, and commitment needed to sustain a creative life.
The past five years brought economic challenges and profound inspiration. A changing art market led me back to teaching, a transition that deepened my dedication to painting. Through layered color and expressive marks, The Path of Preparation reflects that continuing effort. I invite you to explore these new works and join me on the road ahead.

Path of Accumulation
The first installment of the Panca Marga series is called the "Path of Accumulation". These 20 paintings, released in 2021, part of my fine arts painter portfolio, reflect the concept that I commit myself to the life of artist, bringing all my prior life experience into the work, and taking the steps necessary to progress down the path. Each of the paintings carry a title that reflects parts of this journey. Every five years, a new set of 20 paintings are released until I am 80 years old. I hope you will join me in this adventure, and collect the Panca Marga series for yourself.
