This is a series of abstract mixed media paintings on paper, measuring 9x12 inches. The name of the series is Glyphs, and explores the symbolic nature of written language. These symbols are alphabets, hieroglyphics, gestures that can be read in a variety of ways. There is a sense of meaning, though the words are unknown. I lived abroad for 16 years, and the signs, notices and advertisements were in languages I don't speak. I knew there was meaning, but the vocabulary or script was unintelligible. So I created my own personal interpretation. The key to this collection is knowing that whatever message one can extract from this painting... is absolutely correct.
